University of Johannesburg offers Part–time Honours Course in Energy Studies

The University of Johannesburg is offering a Part–time Honours Course in Energy Studies. This two-year part-time course will commence in February 2010. It comprises five modules and a project. Three modules will be covered in the first year, and the remaining two modules and the project in the second year.

The modules comprise energy economics, technology, modelling, policy formulation, and the geographical and political aspects of energy. The emphasis will be on the South and southern African energy landscape.

The course will be taught on a monthly block basis, comprising a Thursday evening lecture, a Friday guest lecture and field excursion, and a Saturday session for a seminar, assignment submission and monthly review.

Candidates will be expected to attend other relevant meetings and public lectures as they may occur during the course of the year.

The minimum requirement for admission is an appropriate B.Sc. degree or equivalent; relevant work experience may be considered in accepting applicants.
