SESSA Divisions

Last Modified: Tuesday, 30 October 2012

SESSA serves as a home for three divisions all relating to highly localised technologies such as solar water heating, rooftop PV and heat pumps.

Solar Water Heating (SWHD)

SWHD

The aims of the SESSA Solar Water Heating Division (SWHD) are to assist in co-operating, developing, instituting, maintaining and promoting a code of good conduct and practices for the division’s membership.

Solar Water Heater business types falling under the division’s responsibility include importers, manufacturers, distributors and installers. All applicants for new membership and annual renewal membership must sign an application form indicating that they agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and responsibility and the SESSA constitution. Non conformance will be a basis for cancellation of membership.

Photovoltaic Division (PVD)

pv 300wThe SESSA Photovoltaic Division (PVD) promotes and advocates the use of small scale rooftop solar photovoltaic technology (PV) and serves as an industry home for importers, manufacturers, distributors and installers of the technology.

The PVD runs regular training courses and seminars to build capacity within the industry and serves as the voice for the rooftop PV industry in meetings with Government, the National Utility and other key energy stakeholders.

Heat Pump Division (HPD)

HPD

The SESSA Heat Pump Division (HPD) promotes and advocates the use of commercial and residential heat pump technology as an energy efficiency measure and serves as an industry home for importers, manufacturers, distributors and installers of the technology.

The HPD views the use of heat pump technology as highly complimentary to solar water heating, either as a standalone technology or in conjunction with solar water heating. The division serves as the voice for the heat pump industry in meetings with Government, the National Utility and other key energy stakeholders.

Interest Groups

In addition to its divisions, SESSA also consists of a number of interest groups. These include the bioenergy, small hydro and wind energy interest groups.
